Understanding
Empathy
Respect
Hello. I’m Zimmie, a maternity nurse in Brighton, UK. I have worked in the childcare industry for over 28 years, and I offer support to families across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.
The role of a postnatal carer; whether that’s in a Maternity nurse, Night nanny or Postnatal doula capacity, is about being part of a family at a special and intimate time.
In my role I am there to be knowledgeable and professional, yet come with a little sense of humour to get you through the harder moments.
During the first few years of life, babies learn about relationships, trust and connecting with others. I can help you in the first few weeks and months to nurture them with empathy, understanding and respect, in the hope that I will leave you feeling ready to take on all of the obstacles and triumphs in their lives.
I believe parents need just as much nurturing as newborns, not only because of the demands of childbirth but also, they too have just been born. They are embarking on a new journey and chapter in their life and I can be there to support that. With the right support in place, you can have a positive, enjoyable and relaxed postnatal period.
Babies don’t come with a manual but go to any shop and there are 100’s of books telling you how to parent your OWN child. Let me show you some tips and tricks I’ve learnt on the way; from having my daughter to looking after singles, twins and even triplet babies. I have learnt skills from looking after over 60 babies from those who have had allergies to tongue-tie’s, circumcision, hospitalisation during my stay, colic plus various other ailments.
I aim to bring fun yet informative support to families across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.
Zimmie is a true professional. Not only has she taken courses and read extensively on “all things baby,” she is constantly staying up-to-date on the latest research – specifically regarding breastfeeding, weaning, and post-natal support for mothers. She is punctual and flexible. We always knew we could count on her.
