24hr Maternity Nurse care

20hrs a day with a 4 hour break each morning

As a 24hr maternity nurse, my role is to fully support, guide, encourage and reassure parents, so they feel ready and prepared for parenthood when I leave. Within this package my goal is to support you as a family after the arrival of your little one; ensuring that the primary caregiver is well looked after, getting adequate sleep and eating and drinking well, and if necessary encouraging the parent to recuperate.

Giving professional, continuous care for the baby and helping the baby settle quickly and easily into the family, with a focus on effective feeding, settling and hygiene patterns.

Liaising with the parent(s) throughout the day on the baby’s progress and keeping a daily diary. Allowing us to talk through any issues that may arise.

Providing support and advice during night feeds, including sleeping in the same room as the baby and either bringing the baby to the parent (if breastfeeding) or assisting with bottle feeds. Preparing bottles, and bottle feeding the baby and/or showing parents how to bottle feed; following the NICE guidelines.

Work with the parent(s) to develop a 24-hour routine and exerting best efforts to help the baby follow it, and more generally advising on getting the baby into a routine that is conducive to family life.

Giving advice, support and encouragement on breastfeeding when requested, rather than imposed.

Listening to parents when they describe their needs and issues as they relate to caring for their baby, and making best efforts to respond appropriately.

Actively encourage interaction among the baby and older siblings.

Night Nanny

9/10pm – 7am

Within this package, my support is focused on the difficult night hours. I will come to your home to support your family in the evening so you can get some much-needed rest.

I will prepare and bottle feed and/or bring the baby to you for feeding whether that be breast or bottle. Once fed, I will do the messy bits e.g. winding and nappy changing and then soothe them back to sleep.

Each morning before I leave; I will hand over notes of the night, wash and sterilise bottles, tidy nursery and help to set you up for the day. This time can also be used for us to discuss any issues, concerns or questions you may have.

Day Maternity Nurse
(Newborn – 12 weeks old)

Minimum 8 hours per day

Within the day only package I can be a second pair of hands during the day, to support you and your family. Want to take a nap or a shower without interruption? I am there to care for, cuddles or take the baby for a walk while you have some recuperation time.

Alongside these well-needed breaks, I am also on hand throughout the day to advise on routines, breast or bottle-feeding advice or anything else newborn related.

In the early evening, I can assist with the bed and bath routine. I leave families at around 7pm, with your little one settled for bed and you ready for the evening.

Post Natal Doula Services

Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex

This package focuses on being tailored to the parent and is based on 3-4hrs support, 2-3 times a week. As a postnatal doula, my role is to look after you, the primary caregiver and help with anything you need to support you. I look after you so you can spend time with your most precious thing and not have to worry about the other boring bits.

Some things you may choose to include in this package are:

Emotional support and a listening ear. You may just need someone to talk through. This can be to get advice or just to listen to your concerns.

Help picking up other children from school or nursery and settling them when they arrive home.

Support with the baby to allow you to have time with their sibling(s).

Help with shopping, meal planning and cooking.

General household chores like putting on some of those overloaded washes or the never-ending washing up.

Breast or bottle feeding advice and assistance.

Babywearing for a few hours so you can do the things you need to do to make you feel more ‘human’ again; paint your nails, go to the gym or just watch an episode on Netflix without any interruptions.

As a new parent, you focus all your attention and energy on your new bundle and sometimes forget to think about yourself. Most people nowadays don’t live close to their families and so need someone who can come in and do the things that an aunt, mum or neighbour might do.

No two families are the same, they all have their requirements and needs. Each day, part of my job is to be flexible depending on the needs of each family and all of these packages can be tailored to support you in the right way.
